6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADE
Easter is quickly approaching! Instead of getting caught up in the peeps, egg hunts, and chocolate, let's focus on Jesus. In the next few weeks, we are going to talk about what Jesus did on Easter and why it is important. We’ll discuss His life, death, and resurrection. Then to end the series, we'll watch a movie to wrap it up and give us a better visual of what everything may have been like for Jesus and those around Him.
Before Jesus and His sacrifice, everyone was condemned to a death without God. Our sin separated us from God forever. However, after Jesus and His sacrifice, we are able to connect with God again and join Him in eternal life. If we choose to accept him then we don't have to fear death. When you accept Jesus, it changes everything about your life now and your life after death.
Easter means fear isn’t final.
54 Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? ” 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 (NLT)
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 (NLT)
Each person struggles with sin, whether they want to admit it or not. It could be greed, anger, lust, gluttony, pride, gossip, etc. These sins are hurtful to us and are always going to lead to death. . But thankfully, that is where Jesus comes in. Because of His sacrifice, we are able to recieve forgiveness. Jesus is willing to come in to your life, offer you new life. All you have to do to recieve this gift, is choose to accept Him.
Easter means new life is possible.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NLT)
Sin is a big deal. Sin causes a separates between us and God. It can strain our relationship and leave us feeling lonely. The good news is that because of Jesus and His sacrifice, we don't have to feel lonely or separated. He can come in and fill what's missing so we can reconnect to God.
Easter means you’re never alone.
But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. John 16:7 (NLT)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NLT)
